I’m pretty sure the owner has lost it. He’s been a great boss, but is spending all his time taking flying lessons and taking up dangerous sports. He’s taken mid-life crisis to new heights and frankly we’re afraid he’ll start losing us business if clients think we’re that flaky. How do we get his feet back on the ground.

If the current Mrs Boss can’t do it, Mrs Boss no.2 or 3 should drive him back to the trough eventually. It can be a surprisingly quick process, so hang in there.

Ours is a family business, but frankly my brother isn’t pulling his weight in the firm. Since he got married he’s been swanning around and not at his desk most of the time. Don’t get me wrong, I love him and his wife to bits, but I’m doing all the heavy lifting here. Can I give him a jolt with a salary cut or something to bring him back to planet earth?

What on earth are you paying him a salary for at all. Start there.
